Rules and restrictions
Reference list of the rules that lock, limit or replace Trade Item settings, such as inventory locks and one brand or group per item.

| Traceability Type locks with inventory | Item | Change fails while the item has active inventory; an error asks you to clear active inventory first. |
| Units lock with inventory | Item | Same as above. |
| Archive blocked with inventory | Item | Same as above. |
| One brand per item | Item | Linking or selecting a brand replaces the current one. |
| One group per item | Item | Linking or selecting a group replaces the current one. |
| Compatible units for sub-products | Sub Products | Only items with a compatible unit of measure are offered. |
| Identifier-only bulk matching | Group bulk linking | Only Trade Item Identifiers match; names and GTINs show No match, because they can be shared by several items. |
| Connected Trade Partners only | Sharing | Only Trade Partners with a connected Wholechain account can be selected. |
| Group deletion is permanent | Groups | Cannot be undone; member items are kept. |
| Bulk upload file type | Bulk Upload | .xlsx or .xls only. |
| Save on blur | Details | Changes are saved when focus leaves the field; leaving the page earlier can lose the change. |
