About PO Tracker
What PO Tracker does and how purchase orders are classified.
PO Tracker records purchase orders (POs) and compares them with the shipment and receive events in your account. It shows which Trade Partners are providing traceability data and how that data corresponds to the POs you issued.
PO Tracker is a traceability tool. A PO's Status shows whether Wholechain has registered qualifying shipment activity for it. Fulfilled does not show that all ordered quantities arrived, that delivery is complete, or that payment or commercial obligations are met. How your organization uses the module for wider purchase order management is your decision.
Terms
- Self Trade Partner: the Trade Partner that represents your own organization.
- Supplier PO: a PO whose origin Location belongs to another Trade Partner and whose destination belongs to your self Trade Partner.
- Customer PO: a PO whose origin Location belongs to your self Trade Partner and whose destination belongs to another Trade Partner.
- Self PO: a PO whose origin and destination both belong to your self Trade Partner. Self POs arise automatically from traceability events, to show movements between your own Locations. They are not added manually.
- Linked shipment: a ship or receive event connected to a PO.
- Qualifying ship event: the ship event from the relevant Trade Partner that changes a PO from Unfulfilled to Fulfilled.

Classification follows the direction of supply chain flow and the ownership of the event's origin and destination Locations.

Purpose
PO Tracker records purchase orders (POs) so they can be connected to the shipments that move product against them. It is a traceability tool: a PO's Status shows whether Wholechain has seen shipment activity that matches the PO. It is not a commercial or financial record of fulfillment, payment or acceptance.
